Schneider’s Jewelers is a longtime institution of Kingston. The business was started in 1928 by Gustav A. Schneider with services such as watch repair and hand engraving. The business was then managed by Gustav’s son, George W. Schneider; and was then passed down to George’s son-in-law, Thomas W. Jacobi, who still operates the store today. In 2012 Schneider’s Jewelers was awarded the honor of being the Small Business of the Year for Ulster County.
