Moores Bridge between Haines Falls and Palenville, Catskill Mountains

Moore’s Bridge Falls is a scenic 20-foot waterfall located in Kaaterskill Clove near Palenville. The waterfall and the bridge over the falls are named for Charles Herbert Moore (1840-1930), a 19th century artist, writer, professor and museum director. During the 1860s Moore resided just north of the village of Catskill near today’s Rip Van Winkle Bridge. That estate, known as the Moore-Howland Estate, is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Moore then moved to Cambridge, Massachusetts where he took a teaching position at Harvard University and would become the first director of Harvard’s Fogg Museum. The rock wall adjacent to the waterfall is a popular destination for ice climbers during the winter months.

There is no publisher listed on the reverse side. It was manufactured in Germany. The postcard was mailed in 1909.
