The Shandaken Eagle, located along Route 28 in Phoenicia, once stood high above Grand Central Station in New York City.

The beautiful Shandaken Eagle statue, according to its plaque, “originally stood atop one of the towers of Grand Central Station in N.Y.C. (New York City) at the turn of the century. Initially coated with which cement, the cast iron eagle was restored with a protective bronze surface at the Phoenicia forge.” The sculpture was dedicated at its current location on August 23, 1986.
