Athens Street Festival, Athens, Greene County

The Athens Street Festival was created in 1974 and takes place each year on the second Saturday in July. The festival was founded by Frank W. Keyser (1907-1987), a well known cabinet maker and wood sculptor. Frank taught cabinet making at Columbia-Greene Community College.

The festival takes place in the downtown area of the village with the roads shut down for vendor booths, food booths, an antique car show, carnival rides, live music and much more. An estimated 10,000 people attend the popular community event each year. Although Frank Keyser passed away in 1987, his legacy continues to live on with the annual Athens Street Festival.
