F. L. Russell Corp.

The F. L. Russell Corporation was a longtime manufacturing business in the village of Saugerties. The company produced notebooks with the iconic black and white covers, loose-leaf binders, photo albums and more. The company was founded in 1895 as the Saugerties Manufacturing Company and in 1936 became the F. L. Russell Corp. under the leadership of Fabian L. Russell (1900-1979). In 1987 the company was sold to Metropolitan Looseleaf, and in 1995 it was acquired by EBSCO. In 1998 that company became Vulcan Information Packaging. After more than a century of operation in Saugerties the company closed its doors in 2003, consolidating its operations.
