The historic Stranahan’s Store in the hamlet of Narrowburg, New York operated from circa 1839 through 1991.

Trust Worthy

Narrowsburg, Sullivan County

The historic Stranahan’s Store, previously Schneider Bros. Store, in the hamlet of Narrowsburg operated from circa 1839 through 1991. The store for many years sold general merchandise, and was later primarily a hardware store. The building also operated for a time as the town clerk’s office. Milton “Bud” Stranahan and his father bought the store from the Schneider Brothers. In 1991, after 45 years of working at and then owning the store, Bud Stranahan tried to sell the store but unfortunately was unable to find a buyer. The building has now long been vacant and it is unclear as to future plans. The store, with its own historical marker, is part of the walking tour of Narrowsburg that was created by the Tusten Historical Society.
