Cliff Along the Northeast Trail, Mohonk Preserve
The 2.3-mile Northeast Trail begins off of Mountain Rest Road, just south of the entrance of the Mohonk Mountain House, and ends at its junction with the red-blazed Clearwater Road Trail.
Along the way, the trail traverses the eastern edge of Guyot Hill and the Mountain House golf course, passes by the base of the challenging rock scramble that takes you to the top of Bonticou Crag, travels along the eastern slope of the Shawangunks ridge and provides several dramatic viewpoints over the countryside with the Catskill Mountains as a backdrop.
