Cattleman's Club & Cafe
Route 66, Amarillo, Texas
The Cattleman’s Club and Café, operating since 1952, is located along historic Route 66 (East Amarillo Boulevard) in the panhandle city of Amarillo, Texas. The restaurant and bar remain open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. One newspaper reported that the restaurant was finally forced to close in 2013 for the first time in 33 years, and that was only due to an historic blizzard that prevented any staff from making it in. It reopened the next morning at 6am. Jeanie Campbell, the owner, bought the business in 1980 and it had remained open ever since. Through 2016, even at 80 years of age, Jeanie was working seven days a week. The vintage sign for the Cattleman’s Club and Café continues to be prominently displayed along Route 66. Adjacent to the Cattleman’s Club is the Cowboy Motel, a longtime Route 66 motor court which displays another great vintage sign.
