Rotary Park at Kingston Point, Kingston

The off-the-beaten-track, 2-acre Rotary Park at Kingston Point offers a pleasing outdoor destination with short nature trails, Hudson River access and views, and a simple walk along old railroad tracks with wonderful Rondout Lighthouse views. Rotary Park is located at the confluence of the Hudson River and Rondout Creek, right next to the 87-acre Kingston Point Park and Kingston Point Beach.

Although you would be hard pressed to picture it today, Rotary Park was once home to bustling tourist activity. The Kingston trolley, the Ulster and Delaware railroad, and the steamboat line known as the Hudson River Day Line all stopped at Kingston Point, with some passengers departing to/from the Catskills while others enjoyed the point itself with its amusement park, arcades, carousel, rowboats, gazebos, dance pavilion, luxury hotel and more. After decades of neglect, the Rotary Club of Kingston restored the area in the 1980s and continues its maintenance, offering visitors a wonderful year-round outing in an idyllic setting.
