Delaware River Valley from Bear Spring Mountain
Bear Spring Mountain is located at the western end of the Catskill Forest Preserve, 5 miles south of the village of Walton in Delaware County, New York. Bear Spring Mountain is the site of a popular state campground that offers a beach, boating, fishing, hiking and horseback trails. The New York State Conservation Department took ownership of the property in 1961, beginning an informal camping program. The campgrounds were upgraded in 1966, 1985 and 1994. The Bear Spring Wildlife Management Area includes over 7,000 acres.
